The USA Women’s Basketball team for the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics has been revealed, hitting the media circuit like wildfire with an All-Star squad of seasoned Ol’ G ballers and spunky newbies looking to carry on the legacy.

Olympic Gold giants Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi are headlining the power squad with none other than five-time Gold medalist and Hall of Famer Dawn Staley. The former WNBA heavyweight is coaching the A-list roster of superstars seeking their seventh Olympic Gold win.

The lineup consists of Washington Mystic’s Ariel Atkins, Tina Charles, Seattle Storm’s Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, Jewell Lloyd, Minnesota Lynx’s Napheesa Collier, Sylvia Fowles, Phoenix Mercury’s Diana Taurasi, Skylar Diggins-Smith, Brittany Griner and Las Vegas Ace’s A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Grey.

This diverse set of talented women each earned their spot, working diligently on their craft, sharpening their skillset while the admirable aspect of this unique dynamic is the veterans working alongside the rookies teaching them how to enhance what they love.

“Well, its very difficult. I know you show a roster full of twelve players, there are a lot of players that aren’t on this list that have helped us, helped us along the way. This has been a three to four year process for us but you need a great mix”, stated Staley.

“When you have Sue, Diana, Brittany, Stewie, when you have the core group of players who have played in multiple Olympic games you have to add a mix of youth and the youth that we added certainly have made it known that they wanted to be a part of an Olympic team and they put the work in behind it so I’m super proud to represent this particular group of players and we don’t wanna be the team that ends that streak of Gold medal winnings”.

It could not have been said any better, we salute team USA in their quest to gain the #7 win, continuing the tradition within the WNBA, and reviving the excitement of the Olympic Gold.

Don’t miss the 2020 Tokyo Olympics live Friday, July 23rd on all major media outlets.
