Philadelphia, PA–The Sunday Essence of Entertainment showcase presented by Platinum Productions at the beloved Dell Music Center was definitely an explosive event. Aside from mother nature softening the torrential down pour, heaven opened its gates to a welcoming vibrant atmosphere and another exclusive line up with the outstanding sounds of two of R&B’s most talented vocalists, platinum recording artists Stokley and Fantasia.
Furnishing the melodic flavor was Philly’s own DJ Corey DST spinning the ones and twos regulating that full blown party vibe together with the one and only Patty Jackson of WDAS 105.3 FM Philly’s number one R&B station lending her endless inviting hostess energy.
Warming up the soul fest was Philly’s rising sensation Destinee Maree flossing her alluring vocals to renditions of top hits Faith Evans’ “Love Like This“, fellow Philly native Jill Scott’s “Golden” and the great Chaka Khan’s “Sweet Thing” before performing “Your Fantasy 2” off her 2013 debut album Dress Rehearsal delivering that classic R&B flavor.
Sporting an elegant self-designed hat from her Sparkle Loxxe collection, the beautified songstress concluded her posh opener to Chaka’s “Ain’t Nobody“, the legendary Patti Labelle’s “If Only You Knew” and the late Whitney Houston’s “I’ll Always Love You” praising the man above for another chance after falling ill a short time ago losing her voice.
Ensuing the inspiring artist was the fine dapperness of R&B crooner Stokley. The former Mint Condition front man together with his ensemble jammed out to tracks “Recipe” and “Vibrant” featuring Snoop Dogg off his 2021 latest release Sankofa having the crowd rocking in their seats.
Cooling down his sizzling opener, he eased the tempo to Kelly Price collabo “Not My Daddy“, “U Send Me Swingin” before taking it old school with The S.O.S. Band’s “Tell Me If You Still Care” then thriving in his funky flavor to Rick James’ “You And I“, The Time’s “Cool” partying with hyped fans ending his fabulous set with number one hit “She“, “Pretty Brown Eyes” and “Level” thanking all for the continued love.
The moment arrived for Fantasia to hit the stage doing it full blown diva style on “So Much To Prove” off her 2013 fourth album Side Effects Of You to a roar of excitement while letting loose on “Hood Boy“, “Change Your Mind” tailored to a Whitey Houston’s I’m Your Baby Tonight theme before addressing fans “being too cute” requesting security to let them closer turning it up on “Selfish” and “Without Me” with ecstatic fans fueling her energetic vibe.
Softening the aura with “Free Yourself“, “Truth Is“, “Ain’t Gonna Beg You”, “Bittersweet”, “Collard Greens & Cornbread”, the effervescent songstress praised God for guiding her through life’s journey crediting the Holy Ghost for aiding her lip-quivering, belting notes to “A Change Is Gone Come” later erupting to “Lady Marmalade“, “Tell Me Something Good” and Vanity’s “Nasty Girl“.
