Rahway, NJ—-Awesome 2 opened the night at the Bergen Pac in Englewood, New Jersey. A2 is a pioneering hip-hop duo that emerged in the 1980s, contributing significantly to the genre’s early development. Composed of Teddy Tedd and Special K, they originated from Brooklyn, New York, and gained prominence as DJs and radio personalities.

The duo played a crucial role in promoting hip-hop culture, particularly through their influential radio show on WHBI 105.9 FM. Their show, titled “The Awesome 2’s Rap Attack,” provided a platform for emerging hip-hop artists, helping to break new talent and shape the landscape of the genre.

Beyond their radio success, Awesome 2 also made a mark as producers and performers. They released singles like “Funky Soul Makossa” and “Monster Jam,” which became classics in the hip-hop scene. The group’s innovative approach to blending beats and sampling contributed to the evolving sound of early hip-hop.

Their debut single, “Never Make a Promise,” catapulted them into the limelight, followed by chart-toppers like “In My Bed,” solidifying their status as R&B icons.

As their success soared, internal dynamics shifted, with Sisqo emerging as the standout star. Despite lineup changes and solo endeavors, including Sisqo’s international hit “The Thong Song,” the group reunited for the album “Dru World Order” in 2002. However, label complications and personal struggles temporarily sidelined Dru Hill, until recent collaborations and a renewed lineup reignited their musical journey.

Dru Hill blessed the audience with all of their hits like; “Tell Me What You Want”, “Never Make A Promise”, “Remain Silent” which was sung by the newest member of the group Tao, “Beauty,” Lil Kim’s, “How Many Licks”, “We’re Are Not Making Love No More”, These Are The Times”, “How Deep Is Your Love”, “I love You”, Jodeci’s, “Stay”, Mint Condition’s, “Pretty Brown Eyes”, “5 Steps”, “Somebody’s Sleeping In My Bed”, and the closed their set out with Sisqo’s “Thong Song”.

Celebrating their 25th anniversary with a series of electrifying performances, including a special tribute to Lil Kim and Mint Condition, Dru Hill proved they’re back and better than ever. With Jazz and Scola rejoining the lineup, alongside new talents Smoke and Black, the group delivered a memorable concert experience, leaving fans reminiscing about the golden era of R&B.
