Anaheim, CA—-The Baltimore Orioles secured a hard-fought victory against the Los Angeles Angels, prevailing 4-2 in a tense battle that went down to the wire. The Orioles, now enjoying seven wins in their last eight games, showcased their resilience and determination on the road.

James McCann and Colton Cowser provided the offensive firepower for Baltimore, each delivering a crucial homer, while Adley Rutschman contributed two RBIs. This offensive effort, coupled with a solid pitching performance from starter Albert Suárez, propelled the Orioles into first place in the AL East and marked a significant milestone as they claimed the Angels’ 10,000th regular-season game.

“It feels good to get a win,” Suárez said. It was a tough one. I prepared myself for it, and that’s what I’m here for. That’s why I go out there.”

Suárez, earning his first major league victory since 2016, displayed poise and control on the mound, holding the Angels to four hits over five innings. Despite a turbulent ninth inning, closer Craig Kimbrel showcased his veteran prowess, striking out Mike Trout with the bases loaded to secure his sixth save.

The Angels, led by Reid Detmers on the mound, fought valiantly but fell short as Detmers surrendered four runs over seven innings. Jo Adell’s homer provided a brief spark for Los Angeles, but their offensive struggles persisted as they suffered their fifth consecutive loss.

“I battled and got through seven innings, which is huge for our bullpen,” Detmers said. “Kept us in the game, but I made some mistakes. There were three or four pitches I’d like to have back.”

Looking ahead, the Orioles anticipate continued success as they rely on Grayson Rodriguez to maintain their momentum in the upcoming matchup against the Angels’ Griffin Canning. With both teams hungry for victory, the stage is set for another thrilling showdown in Anaheim.
