The match, which took place in Seattle, Washington, saw Raul Ruidiaz of the Sounders opening the scoring with an early penalty kick. This was made possible by a foul that led to Josh Atencio of the Sounders receiving a second yellow card in the 57th minute due to a reckless sliding tackle.
