Glendale, AZ–The UConn Huskies reaffirmed their status as a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA with a resounding win over Alabama at the State Farm Arena in Arizona. In a display of tenacity and skill, the Huskies outmatched their opponents with a final score of 86-72, leaving no doubt about their dominance on the court.

Leading the charge for UConn were Castle and Clingan, whose aggressive play set the tone for the entire team. Castle delivered a stellar performance, tallying 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, while Clingan contributed 18 points, 5 boards, and assist. Their relentless determination and unwavering focus made them the driving force behind UConn’s title-worthy victory.

“Our identity is to be pretty relentless,” UConn coach Dan Hurley said. “We might not break you for 18 minutes, 25 minutes, but at some point if what we’re doing at both ends and on the backboard is at a high level, it just becomes hard for the other team to sustain it.”

But it wasn’t just individual brilliance that propelled the Huskies to success. It was their collective effort, their seamless teamwork, and their unyielding spirit that set them apart. From the opening tip-off to the final buzzer, every player on the UConn roster contributed to the team’s triumph, showcasing the depth and talent that defines the program.

The Huskies took a four point lead (44-40) into the break and was jogging into the locker room with a different swagg.

“A battle of the giants. I think it’s just great for college basketball. Us and Purdue have clearly been the two best teams in the country the last two years,” Hurley said. “I think it’s just great for college basketball to get the two big dogs playing on Monday.”
