Philadelphia, PA–Thursday evening’s third featured showcase of the 2022 Essence of Entertainment Series at the renowned Dell Center proved to be yet another success filled with surprise guests and fervent flavor.
Allowing mother nature to cool down the scorching heat index, the show’s delay didn’t keep loyal concertgoers from filling the beloved locale’s seats kicking back to enjoy the amorous sounds of R&B music’s finest artists.
Opening the festivities was Philly’s own rising R&B singer/songwriter Tia Shanae juicing up the crowd to cuts “Gotta Be Honest”, “Drifting”, a beautiful rendition of Mary J Blige’s classic remake “Going Down” and fresh single “Thoughts” vibing with the sold-out crowd.
A brief appearance from Philadelphia Eagles offensive linebacker Jordan Mailata took fans by surprise after his singing debut on the Fox hit show The Masked Singer. The Aussie-Samoan native hit the stage to Steve Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I’m Yours” wowing fans before the all-star line up.
ATL’s platinum recording group Jagged Edge blessed the stage making fans go wild to their string of smash hits “Let’s Get Married”, “I Gotta Be”, “He Can’t Love You” off their 1997 debut album A Jagged Era and 1999 sophomore platinum release J.E. Heartbreak spiking the sea of ladies temps in the audience.
The crooners continued their love quest to fellow ATL heartthrob Usher’s “Nice and Slow”, “Promise” and steamy Keith Sweat favorite “Right And A Wrong Way” before rocking out to party anthem “Where The Party At” off their 2001 third release Jagged Little Thrill turning up the entire Dell arena.
The final headliner was Grammy Award winning lover man Neyo gracing the stage with his sexy entourage rocking the spotlights to his list of multi-platinum hits including renowed woman theme “Miss Independent” and “Because Of You” off his 2007 second release Because Of You and follow-up 2008 third album Year Of The Gentlemen getting the ladies saucy with his smooth flow.
Flossing a sensuous mix of tracks from his newly released eighth album Self Explanatory the silky singer, songwriter, producer and actor extraordinaire belted eloquent notes to “Layin’ Low” featuring upcoming North Carolina native singer Zae France, seductive single “You Got The Body” and closing to spicy classic “Sexy Love” from his 2006 debut album In My Own Words.
