Arlington, Tx——Chicago Sky’s balanced offense, led by Diamond DeShields with 16 points, propelled them to an 83-74 victory over the Dallas Wings in a thrilling Saturday night showdown in Arlington, Texas, marking a split in the season-opening series.

In a dramatic fourth quarter, Chicago surged ahead, outscoring Dallas 28-11 to overturn an eight-point deficit. Marina Mabrey ignited the Sky with a crucial 3-pointer early in the final frame, setting the stage for Elizabeth Williams and Angel Reese to extend the lead with key baskets and plays.

Reese capped off a decisive 14-0 run, establishing a commanding 72-65 lead with just over four minutes remaining. Despite Arike Ogunbowale’s efforts, who tallied nine of Dallas’ 11 points in the quarter, Chicago maintained control until the final buzzer.

In a rematch of Wednesday’s season opener, where Ogunbowale’s heroics secured a 87-79 victory for the Wings, the Sky adjusted their game plan, narrowing the points in the paint deficit and showcasing a resilient defensive effort.

Contributions from Williams, Dana Evans, and Chennedy Carter, each with 12 points, alongside Reese’s 11 points and nine rebounds, highlighted Chicago’s depth and versatility.

Ogunbowale shone once again for Dallas, notching 35 points, supported by Kalani Brown’s 11 points off the bench. Despite their efforts, the Wings couldn’t replicate their previous success, especially with key starters Natasha Howard and Jaelyn Brown sidelined due to injuries.

Monique Billings, recently signed to bolster the Wings’ roster, made her presence felt with five points and four rebounds in her debut, adding depth to Dallas’ lineup.
