Prudential Center—Kadary Richmond and Tyrese rose to the occasion with both scoring 14 points to help Seton Hall beat DePaul 69-64 on Sunday at the Prudential Center in front of loud crowd of 9,770.

The Pirates looked like they were sleepwalking in the opening minutes of the game, Depaul jumped on them from gate and were up 15-2 at the 11:56 mark. Seton Hall had to take a immediate timeout to re-engage themselves.

After a SHU timeout, the Pirates quickly put on their capes and jump started a run of its own to take the team’s first lead of the contest, 18-17.

In the first half, Depaul shot 32.3% (10-31) from the floor and 22.2% (2-9) from beyond the arc. If the Blue Demons shot the rock better in the half it could of been a whole different outcome for the Midwestern school.

The Pirates shot 30.8% (8-26) from the hardwood and 16.7% (1-6) from downtown in the first half, Seton Hall couldn’t buy a basket in the first few minutes of the game. They came out the media timeout with a lot more energy and got stops which propelled their offense.

In the second half, the Pirates made a couple of runs and bumped their lead to 43-30 at the 12:16 mark and seem to be in control of the contest with Richmond controlling things at the point.

Despite the Blue Demons making back-to-back field goals to open the second half, the Pirates outscored them 22-9 at the under-12 media timeout. DePaul used a 7-2 run, including five points by Raimey to get in striking distance of 10, 51-41 but Seton Hall made enough plays down the stretch to seal the win.

With the win, the Pirates leads the all-time series with the Blue Demons, 23-9 and has won 13 of the last 15 meetings and remains in sole possession of fifth place in the Big East standings.

Umoja Gibson scored 21 points with two assists. Da’Sean Nelson had 13, six boards, with two assists. K.T. Raimey chipped in 10 points along with two steals for the Blue Demons.

The Pirates outrebounded the Blue Demons 43-40 for the game.
