New York, NY— The 5’10 190 pound Egg Harbor Township resident Patrick ” Cheeks” Smith will play his college career at college Colorado State and 4.0 Sports was the first to report it.
“Cheeks” held offers from Navy, Army, Lehigh, Lafayette, Holy Cross, Fordham, Yale, Columbia, Dartmouth, Geogetown, Central Michigan, Bucknell, Maine, Duquense, and Colorado State.
“Cheeks” was one of the top running backs in New Jersey and also one of the country’s finest. Last season he carried the ball 170 times for 1500 rushing yards, he also had 2200 plus all-pupose yards. The durable back led the state in kick returns.
On film No. 4 plays much bigger than he looks and has proven to be a difficult tackle. “Cheeks” runs with good body lean, keeps his legs moving, and rarely goes down on initial contact. The Holy Spirit’s back shows excellent football speed and does a great job of following his blockers, can cut on a dime, runs with his pads low, and gains significant yardage after initial contact.
This is what 4.0 Sports Columnist Marvin Chambers had to say about Cheeks: “I had been watching him since he was in the 6th grade and I was very impressed how this young kid hit the hole and made precision cuts up the field at an early age. Every camp that the IV Star Showcase put on, he was always one of the top performers. But it all starts at home, his parents keep him grounded and quite frankly you couldn’t ask for any better people to know. I’m just blessed to have them trust us with their son. Cheeks is a complete back who can run, catch, block, he is very strong and is a hard working young man. He is ready for the next level.”
Colorado State’s running back coach Brian White is getting a special player coming to Fort Collins, Colorado. Hopefully in four years I will be attending the 2024 NFL Draft and hearing Commissioner Roger Goodell calling “Cheeks’ name.
